Behind the Scenes: Dusk Citadel

Discover how Galazi, a self-taught artist from Taiwan, introduced the enchanting Dusk Citadel to life, mixing customized property, intelligent lighting, and artistic strategies.

INTRODUCTION

Whats up everybody! I am Galazi, a self-taught artist from Taiwan.

My first space of examine was movie enhancing, after which I started delving into 3D.

I began studying 3D from CG Fast Track, and it has been nearly three years now.

At the moment, I am centered on creating surroundings artwork.

INSPIRATION

Earlier than I began creating this scene, I made an asset pack first.

When you’d wish to, you may get this asset pack on my gumroad.

After I began creating this, my preliminary thought was to strive making a citadel set within the mountains.

Nevertheless, I didn’t have a transparent route for the precise creation, so I discovered this as a reference for my scene:

PROCESS

I used Blender to finish this scene, exported the video, after which made changes in After Results.

Belongings

The citadel, mountains, and timber on this mission had been all modeled from scratch, whereas the supplies and a few foreground rock fashions had been sourced from Poly Haven.

Mountain

I sculpted some shapes of the mountain.

Tree on the Mountain

As for the timber, I used geometry nodes to distribute them throughout the mountains.

The nodes:

The timber on this scene had been arrange as 2D planes to cut back rendering time.

Lighting

I used heat orange lighting on the buildings.

Mild Coloration: FFD596

As for the blue lighting, I used it on the small village within the foreground.

Mild Coloration: 6FBFFF

And at all times keep in mind so as to add fog!

If you wish to see a extra detailed manufacturing course of, I’ve recorded a timelapse.
